Brian Knarfield

Born February 9th 1987 in El Cerrito California.

Neil’s passion for drawing and painting first connected him with sound. at the age of 8 Neal began singing which eventually lead him to approach the piano as his first weapon of choice. At age 13 he became interested DJing rap music, which lead him to playing electronic music.

After graduating high school, the music obsessed teen started a small Shoegaze band named “Systems Octopus”

The band played numerous underground shows in and around Oakland California from 2006 until 2007 when the band split up. After the smoke had cleared from the bands disappearance Neil found himself behind the decks again, with a whole new vision.

As time went by and Neil’s sound became more defined, production became the next logical step. Brian’s taste in music was moving further away from the realm of commercial and deeper into the dark. To illustrate his electronic music efforts, Neil sought a unique alias. Much to his advantage Lyrics from the Systems Octopus song “Stabbing crew” were morphed into the Knarfield moniker, which stands today.

In 2009 Knarfield released a remix of Thee-O and Merlyn Martins “Smack Attack” on Mizumo Music. He also released his first all original “kitchen sex EP” on Itzamna Recordings.
